Dr. Paul Lathrop
Born and raised in Calgary, Paul graduated with distinction in optometry at Pacific University in Oregon and took a residency position at the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Lathrop enjoys cycling, hiking, and cross country skiing with his wife and two children. He has served on the Executive of the Calgary Society of Optometrists.
Dr. Magdalis Velázquez
Dr. Magdalis Velázquez was born and raised in Aguada, Puerto Rico. She completed her optometry degree in 2000 with honours at the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry.
Dr. Velázquez speaks fluent Spanish and English.
In her spare time, Dr. Velázquez enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
Dr. Monica Bell
Monica Bell, a native Calgarian, graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry. During her education, she completed an ocular disease and therapeutics externship in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. Bell is passionate about helping others and has participated in several volunteer eye care missions in countries such as Romania, Thailand and Jamaica. She has also been involved in vision screenings for athletes in the Special Olympics.
Monica enjoys staying active by teaching and participating in fitness classes, travelling, drawing and spending time with family and friends. She speaks French and English.
Dr. Allison Wright
Allison Wright completed a Bachelor of Optometry degree at the University of Melbourne.
Allison loved Australia so much that she stayed to obtain a Post Graduate Diploma in Ocular Therapeutics at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane.
Dr Wright has experience working with a laser surgery clinic
With a keen interest in travelling, Dr. Wright volunteered for an eyecare mission to South Africa in 2005 and has since been to many other countries.
Dr. Sharon Winnicki
Dr. Sharon Winnicki was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. She studied at the Southern College of Optometry and graduated with honours in 2006.
In her spare time, Dr. Winnicki enjoys camping, biking and gardening with her husband and children.
Dr. Lana Filipic
Dr. Filipic grew up in Saskatchewan and attended the University of Regina for her pre-optometry studies. In 2011, she graduated from University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science and has been in Calgary ever since.
She is fluent in Serbo-Croatian. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Dr. Mira Chen
Dr. Chen was born and raised in Edmonton. She earned both her Bachelor of Science and her Doctor of Optometry degrees at the University of Waterloo. During her training, she did a clinical externship in Mesa, Arizona and accompanied a team to Kingston, Jamaica for an eye mission. She is passionate about helping people and spent 6 years in West Africa doing development work with her husband and 2 kids.
She speaks Korean and French fluently. Outside of work, she enjoys running and yoga.

Dr. Brianna Mairs
Dr. Brianna Mairs was born and raised in Abbotsford, British Columbia. She moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree. She earned her optometry degree from the Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon where she graduated with honours.
Dr. Mairs enjoys spending her free time trying new foods and restaurants, visiting local coffee shops, hiking in the mountains, spending time with family, and finding new experiences.
